Dick has been involved in developing leaders for over 20 years. Since moving to England he has worked with a consulting company that focuses extensively in the public, private and charitable world.
Dick has developed a mentoring program for developing leaders in these areas. It is called "The Seven Facets in the Art of Leadership". It is used both to develop executive leaders as well as implement a mentoring program of leadership development within organizations.
Seven Facets in the Art of Leadership- see menu on the left hand side - November 1, 2002 The Seven Facets in the Art of Leadership represent years of actual experience training and developing leaders in a wide variety of situations and organizations. Leaders do not come in one variety. Instead we have worked with many different leaders, each of whom is talented in different areas, and has usually developed a style of leadership in keeping with those talents. We have found the 7 Facets outlined in our training material as ones that are essential to a broad ability to lead a variety of people in a variety of seasons borrowing from a variety of styles.
Outline for Effective Mentoring- see menu on the left hand side - November 1, 2002 The following are the recommended steps for a mentor in developing an effective mentoring program:
Planning Grid (example)- see menu on the left hand side - November 1, 2002
Time Diary - see menu on the left hand side - November 1, 2002
Time diaries are helpful when:
- one is feeling like they are not being as productive as they could be,
- one is in transition
- one is needing to reassess priorities and changes to their schedule.
