2. Seeds of Miracles SEEDS OF MIRACLES
When mom sang she swayed so free and strayed a bit off key.
As she worshipped without worry from the norm
Old dad loved to fill each lung, stomp in time to what was sung,
And our pastor never asked him to conform.

Then our elder board's good head bought himself a new Merced,
Moved uphill and soon acquired a Dow Jones accent,
Though he lived ten miles away he still came so we'd obey
His advice on all events that he let happen.

First he stilled my daddy's boot and it left him almost mute
With self-consciousness to do such straight backed crooning;
They got momma back on key but it robbed her of her glee
Concentrating on such technical fine tuning.

Our new elders by research found out how a super church
'Gainst it sister churches might wage competition,
Paving acres for each car that might come from near or far,
Advertising like shampoo for recognition.

Hired singers formed the chorus, polished pro's did God's work for us,
Self-improvement, fun and shows each night and day,
Passive viewer concentration, electronic adoration,
Endless programs left me little time to pray.

Lord my soul has had its fill of the candy coated pill
And impersonal assembly line salvation;
God's word tells us what we lack, I've decided to come back
To this small but Spirit-guided congregation.

Lord I'm tired of bugged woes to make sure that the floor space grows.
Help us spread the seed on more productive soil!
We're not worshipping mere size because Jesus multiplies
Like small grain the many churches that stay loyal.

Let new churches, small but many, keep locating where it is handy
To give ordinary folks participation;
Let's reclaim now what we lost, reproduce at any cost
Through our little Spirit-guided congregation.

Christ as killed, a willing victim, but He rose and raised us with Him
Guaranteeing us eternal life above!
So the pains of giving birth to His churches are well worth
Any sacrifice to spread 'round Jesus' love.

Jesus, heal our fleshly flaw that defies creation's law
Concentrating all our growth in one location!
A sound church of healthy size by Your power multiplies
To extend Your kingdom reign throughout the nation.

Jesus' church His future wife like all creatures who have life
Multiply her local cells by subdivision;
Reproduction's normal flow does much more to make her grow
Than enticing other sheep for mere addition.

Free us Lord from institutions with commercialised solutions
For mere size they keep their flocks in isolation!
Let us rather form a cluster of small churches that can muster
Much more folk in small but loving congregations.
