Evangelism

Evangelism: Week 1

Evangelism is bringing people to a knowledgeable confrontation with Jesus Christ in such a way that they either accept His sovereign rights over them as Savior and Lord, or reject Him.

Day 1: Read Luke 24:44-48.
What are the three elements which make up a witness for Christ? (44,46,47)

Day 2: Obviously the Person of Christ is very important in evangelism since it is He who we present. We will be spending the next amount of time on studying WHO is this Jesus. Read John 8:23-24. How important is it that we know WHO Jesus is? Also read John 8:28,58. Who is He?

Day 3: Read Matthew 16:13-28.
What do we learn here about the PERSON of Christ? See also Matt. 26:63,64.

Day 4: Read Luke 9:18-26.
What do we learn about the person of Christ here? What are the consequences of believing in this Christ?

Day 5: Read John 1:1-18.
Make a list of things you learn about Jesus from this passage.

Day 6: Read John 11:25-46.
What do we learn about the person of Christ here?

Day 7: Look back over this weeks studies on the person of Christ and think about this question: If we truly present WHO Christ is in our witnessing, how would this eliminate the mistake of people thinking they can trust Jesus as Savior and not as Lord?

Evangelism: Week 2
Day 1: This week we will study what the apostles had to say about the person of Christ. Read

I Cor. 15:12-28. What do we learn here about Jesus Christ?

Day 5: Read Rev. 1:4-20.
What do we learn about the person of Christ here?

Day 6: Read II Cor. 5:10-21.
What do we learn about the person of Christ and the consequences of faith in Him?

Day 7: Look back over the week and reflect on the ways true faith in Christ has inevitable consequences on the life of the believer. What are some ways this ought to effect our evangelism?

Evangelism: Week 3
Day 1: This week we will focus on exhortation to witness and see that it is an exhortation to all believers. Read Matt. 9:35-38. Who was Jesus asking to pray? What was the result of their praying? (Matt. 10:1). How is your praying for evangelistic efforts? Spend a good season of prayer that you also might be filled with the Spirit and have a boldness to bring the person of Jesus Christ to lost ones around you.

Day 2: Read Acts 1:1-14.
What is Jesus's plan for the extension of His kingdom? Was Acts 1:8 given only to the 12 or is it for us all? Defend your answer.

Day 3: Acts 4:23-31.
What do you learn here about evangelism? Have a time of prayer for yourself and our church.

Day 4: Acts 11:19-26.
What do we learn about the responsibility for evangelism? What do we learn about being filled with the Spirit and its connection with evangelism? See vs. 24 and Acts 4:31, also Acts 4:8.

Day 5: Phil. 2:12-18.
What is Paul exhorting the Philippian brothers to do? What is the meaning of verse 15? (compare with 1:5,7,27).

Day 6: Read Rom. 10:1-17.
What is our responsibility? What kind of heart should this obedience come from? (Rom. 10:1, see also Rom. 9:1-3).

Day 7: Spend this day reviewing what you have learned this week and praying it into your life.

Evangelism: Week 4
Day 1: This week we will actually review some of the great messages in Acts looking at HOW they presented Christ. Read Acts 3:12-26.

What did Peter say about Jesus:
PERSON PASSION PARDON
Did you notice anything Peter does which you do not do?

Day 2: Acts 4:8-13 and 5:29-32.
Once again what did Peter say about the Person, Passion, and Pardon of Christ? Does Peter preach anything you would tend to avoid?

Day 3: Read Acts 10:34-43.
What does Peter say about the Person, Passion, and Pardon of Christ?

Day 4: Read Paul's first recorded evangelistic message in Acts13:16-41.
What does Paul say about the Person, Passion, and Pardon of Christ?

Day 5: Acts 26:1-29.
What does Paul say about Jesus, the Person, Passion, and the Pardon?

Day 6: Look back at Acts 26:1-29 and focus especially on verses 4-20. Here Paul is giving his personal testimony. It consists of Three elements: Paul's life before Christ, his conversion, and then the results on His life. Paul shared his testimony often as is evidenced by the fact that nine times in his writings. Take a few moments to outline your testimony and pray for an opportunity to share it.

Day 7: Take a few minutes to review your life and witness on the basis of what we have been studying the last four weeks. Make a list of those things which you need to emphasize more concerning the person of Christ. Have a time of prayer for your own evangelistic efforts as well as those of the church.
