1. A Word of Caution

A word of caution

Caution
The purpose of this guide is to share with others what we have learned as we have endeavored to train leaders in the house churches. This guide is a collection of papers and training materials that grew out of our experiences in developing and equipping men over the years. It is not to be used as a textbook to "stamp" out leaders but a guide to help facilitate established leaders to reproduce themselves in other men called by God to this ministry of shepherding and oversight of the flock. The skills necessary to shepherd are acquired by working with others as a body, not from lectures, books or classroom situations. It requires teamwork in order to be effective. Thus the guide is not to be worked through individually. This guide will help enable the leader to mentor or coach the other men as they spend time together developing a deeper relationship. As this relationship develops, the result will be a deeper trust, an understanding of how each other functions, a sense of co-laboring in the work, the sharing of responsibilities and dynamics of team work established. This guide is by no means exhaustive. Things can and should be added as needed or changed if not applicable to your particular situation This guide is to be used in cooperation with the Fellowship of Church Planters manual: Planting House Churches In Networks. For appropriate sections dealing with leadership refer to chapters 16,17,18,21,22 and appendices 8,14,15. For appropriate sections dealing with vision refer to chapter 14 and appendices 13 and 20.
